The Lion and the Mouse
One day, a lion was sleeping in the forest. A little mouse began running up and down on him. This soon wakened the lion, who was very angry. He caught the mouse with his huge paw and opened his big jaws to swallow him.
“Pardon, O King!” cried the little mouse. “Forgive me this time. I shall never repeat it, and I shall never forget your kindness. Who knows? Maybe I can help you someday.”
The lion was amused by the idea that such a tiny creature could ever help him. However, he lifted his paw and let the mouse go.
Some days later, while hunting, the lion was caught in a hunter’s net. He roared loudly, trying to break free, but the ropes were too strong. The little mouse heard the roar and recognized the lion’s voice. She ran to the spot and began to gnaw at the ropes with her sharp teeth. Soon, she made a hole big enough for the lion to escape.
“Thank you,” said the lion. “You were right. Even a small friend can be a great help.”
Moral of the story: No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. Strength is not just about size; even the weak can help the strong.
